Surgery Day

So I tried to get some pictures so y'all could see how big his bump is on the left side of his neck...

Tried to do a close up. This is the one the Dr removed a cross section of.

Getting ready to leave for surgery. Craig is going to hate this picture but he would only let me take one so maybe now he'll let me take two! : )
We checked in at 12:45. They told us to be there at 1pm (2 hours before surgery) we were checked in quickly and he was taken back for pre-op.

This was his nurse Lolita. She was so funny we had the whole pre surgery ward laughing especially all of the nurses.

Lolita came in to check him before surgery and she asked to feel his bump. She felt it, then felt his chest. She said she loved being a nurse because it gave her a license to feel everyone.. She then asked me to go back out to the waiting room while she started his IV.
I started laughing and said "Lolita you just said you loved feeling my husband and now you want me to leave you alone with him?"

She said "I promise not to touch him too much!"

I was laughing as was all the nurses and I said " I don't know Lolita"

And one of the other nurses yelled over "How do you think she got the name Lolita?"

We waited for 3 hours and they finally called the surgeon and he was stuck in surgery. At 4:45 Craig was moved in the recovery room because the surgery floor was closing. At 5pm he was taken into surgery and by 6:15 the surgeon came out to tell me everything went well.
Perfect Vitals.....They made a 2 inch incision in his left shoulder and removed a piece about the size of a melon. The surgeon explained he took a bigger piece so they would be able to run all the tests they need.
When we are getting ready to leave, I was helping Craig get dressed and he was in a lot of pain I asked him what his pain was on a scale of 10 he said about a 7 or 8. When the nurse came back in to take out his IV I told her "He says his pain is about a 7 or 8"
She said "Oh well then we need to give him something in his IV and keep him another half hour"
Craig says "Oh, I meant it was about a 4 then"

We all got a good laugh. They asked again and he said "Oh no its a 2 then"

He had his nurse laughing so hard. She was trying to take out his IV and it was stuck in his arm hair and she was feeling so bad he told her "Yeah I am a gorilla, just rip it off!"

This hospital is going green and uses recycled gowns and they have this thing called Bair Hugger that blows hot air into the gown to keep you warn. It was really cool. Kept him nice and toasty

So now we wait. December 1st we meet with the oncologist again. We are hoping to have some results by Wednesday before we leave to Southern California for Thanksgiving with Craig's family.

Its amazing how peoples tones change when you say the word Cancer. The nurse that took over asked what we were there for after spending about an hour with her and her voice suddenly changed when she heard the word Cancer. It changes things in people.

She told us we were a cute couple and we had a great attitude about it.

So that's where were are at. I am calling the oncologist office tomorrow to see if we can go in for the results of the PET test and the biopsy on Wednesday before the holiday. We both doubt we will hear anything then but we are going to try.

Thank you all for your love and support. We can feel it!

You see what I have to deal with???

Love K
